Lieve allemaal (or should I say Dear all),
Because after my last travel blog, I noticed also my Canadian friends are reading (or at least 'liking') my blog. So that's why I decided to start this one in English! Well after a few complaints about not writing for I long time, here another story of my experiences in Calgary. Thank you to all of you who are (still) reading my stories, it feels nice to know people are reading my stories as well. Although I have to admit that writing them is also quite fun to do.
To start with: my internship is almost over. My supervisor already abandoned me a few days ago to go on her holiday, but anyway she is still reading my report while she's on her trip, how great is that! The last weeks have been a bit more stress full, since my report had to be finished and my presentation had to be prepared. All of that is (almost) done and on Thursday (July 2nd) I will give my final presentation at the U of C. Another little drawback scared me about a week ago: I opened my laptop and all for a sudden I could only see half of my screen (see pictures). As soon as possible, I connected my external hard drive and started to copy my hard disk. On Sunday I went to a computer store near by, on my bike, and the guy told me it was only my screen that was broken. So that was a releive, but still I couldn't really work like this. Replacement costs are $ 350,- so I decided to look for an external monitor to connect to my laptop. Meanwhile my screen got worse and I decided to not shut my computer off anymore for the rest of the week. Luckily my supervisor had a spare monitor, which she brought to the office so I could finish my internship! And while I am preparing my last slides, I am writing this (probably also) last blog. Although, who knows...
My internship report will be handed in this week as well, so let's start talking about the holiday. It will start on Friday with climbing a nice multipitch (multiple climbing routes after each other, I think the one we are going to climb is about 200 meters). And on Saturday my sister will arrive in Calgary! Sunday a day of rest, but tickets for the rodeo on Monday have been reserved a long time ago. Hopefully we have a good spot and I guess the weather forecasts are not too bad so far. I think we have also lots of other things to do (amongst others horse back riding at Lake Louise) so we won't get bored. I am looking forward to your visit my little sister!!!
And as promised in one of my first blogs, I still owe you some stories about climbing. The first weeks were all indoor climbing, together with my supervisors' husband at the Stronghold Climbing gym and at the University climbing gym with the ACC (Alpine Club of Canada). Unfortunately I did not meet that many students during the climbing, nevertheless I met an Italian guy with the ACC with whom I went scrambling and climbing outside a few times already. Also I went out with another member of the ACC (it maybe sounds a bit vague, but I don't like to mention other people's names) to go climb at Sunshine Rock (near Sunshine Village, where I went snowboarding just a few weeks ago). So far I've been to about five or six crags (climbing areas) and all liked them. One thing to take into account when you go out for climbing: the weather. It can change within one hour and at the crags (which are about an hour drive) it can be totally the opposite of the weather in Calgary. I found this out myself, when we were heading to the mountains and is was nice and sunny in Calgary. When we arrived at a higher spot outside the city, we saw some dark clouds and a grey curtain in front of us, right where we were going to climb. Of course you are not turning around, so we decided to climb another crag (really a life time of climbing within one or two hours drive from Calgary!). We only had a few drops, and nice sun the rest of the evening. We even climbed till 23.00, when it eventually became to dark to see the holds properly.
I guess that's it for this time again, I have to wrap up some things for my presentation and prepare what I am going to say. Hopefully you enjoyed reading it (again) and as said before: maybe till a next one!

Lieve Bram,
Het lezen in Engels is voor mij geen probleem. Voor Opa zal dit zeker een probleem zijn. Hij leest jouw berichten met heel veel plezier. Hij doet er dagen over maar geniet er wel van. Het zou fijn zijn als je een vertaling zou sturen. Als je daar geen tijd voor hebt wil ik wel een verkorte versie sturen. Ik hoor het nog wel.
Hier is het momenteel al erg warm. Zaterdag wordt het 35 graden of hoger.
Ik wens je veel succes met je presentatie. Ik denk dat je daar wel doorheen komt. Ga er nog een paar weken van genieten totdat je weer naar Nederland komt. Veel plezier ook met Kim en de rest van de familie die later arriveert.

Hoi Adelheid,
Je bent ook veel te snel!! Was nog bezig met uploaden en zo af en toe pakt hij de helft dan om de een of andere reden niet... Als het goed is moeten ze nu allemaal zichtbaar zijn.
Ik was inderdaad van plan een vertaling naar zowel opa als oma te sturen, dus dat komt goed!

Dag Bram, ik zal ook even een berichtje sturen.
Jij krijgt een mooie tijd. Er komt veel visite en lange tijd
Kim vliegt nu naar jou toe. Ze blijft dan een paar weken.
Mama en Papa komen over 14 dagen naar jou toe. Zii blijven dan 5 weken bij jou. Dat is toch wel iets voor jou.
Jouw Mama en Papa gaan vandaag Kim wegbrengen en daarna gaan ze naar Utrecht. Daar start vandaag de Tour de France.
Hier is hier ontzettend warm. Het is buiten 35 graden. Ik kan niet buiten wandelen.
